Kelly Sutherland

You may have seen these images around Calgary for last month's High Performance Rodeo at One Yellow Rabbit. They were created by ACAD illustration grad Kelly Sutherland in collaboration with another grad, Darcy Parke from Cattleprod Creative, as graphic designer.





These are some of the Kelly's wonderfully expressive and energetic sketches for the project.

Zhen Huang - Student Profile

Year : current 4th year student, 2010 graduating class

Zhen Huang is an international student from Beijing, China.
He started at ACAD in 2007, majoring in graphic design and illustration.
His works are often inspired by eastern culture, art, and values.
This was a project to design illustrated icons. Zhen choose to do computer icons based on the chinese zodiac.

Illustration Competitions

Several deadlines for illustration competitions are coming up. If you can get in, these can be very effective marketing tools.

-Because of their philosophy they often feature new and emerging talent.
They have a student competition as well.

Nic Wassill

Zahra Al-harazi

In the lastest issue of Avenue magazine (November 2009) ACAD design dept alumni Zahra Al-harazi is listed as one of the Top 40 under 40 in the Calgary business community. The 39 year old creative director and founder of Foundry Creative mentions her key to success- "Success is going after what makes you happy." Al-harazi says, "I love what I do and hope that comes through."
