This was selected for the editorial category and the client is Delaware Today Magazine

This image was selected in the advertising category and is a CD cover for the band Christian Hansen & the autistics. It will also appear in this years upcoming Communication Arts Illustration Annual 2011

Courtney McNeil

Courtney is graduating from ACAD this May with a Bachelors Degree of Design. She previously interned at Mercer Creative in Vancouver and is looking forward to pursing her career on the coast. More examples of her work can be found at courtneymcneil.ca

Calgary Script

I've been browsing for a new script font at myfonts.com, more than browsing actually, it's quite addictive. One of the fonts that caught my eyes is Calgary Script designed by Alejandro Paul. It was inspired by a visit to Calgary a few years ago for a talk Alejandro did at ACAD.

Society of Illustrators 2011 Student Scholarship Competition

2011 is the first year that illustration students from ACAD have competed in the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition. Every year since 1981 the Society has held the Student Scholarship Competition. Over a hundred works are chosen from more than 5,000 entries submitted by professors of college-level students nationwide. In a competition which can kick start a career, students bring their most sophisticated, well-crafted and original work to be tested. A jury of professional peers, including illustrators and art directors, selects the most outstanding works created throughout the year. Pieces are accepted based on the quality of technique, concept and skill of medium used.

Illustration Roundtable

Thursday March 31 commencing at 1pm is our 3rd Annual Illustration Roundtable. An opportunity for the rookies to ask the pros what it's like inside the big ring.

Lisa Turner

Lisa has a BDES in Visual Communications Design in graphic design and illustration from Alberta College of Art & Design majoring, where she also studied fashion. She has collaborated with Foundry Creative, Avenue Magazine and Hartman Design Studio and worked as a graphic designer/art director at Trigger Communications & Design. Lisa Turner is also a sessional Faculty member at the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
